How To Find Out God's Will For My Life?

God's will is easy to be found because He has made it easy for us to find it. He has promised that when we search for it we will find it. "And he who seeks finds.", is the words of Jesus Himself. That's why how to find out God's will for my life is no longer a mystery.

how to find out God's will for my life?

For this reason, we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him,  being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 1:9‭-‬14 NKJV

The best way to find out the will of God is to know first that who is God to me. If I don't know who He is to me then I can't figure it out that what He thinks of me. And if I don't know His thoughts toward me then it will be difficult for me to understand God's will for my life.

7 Things You Didn't Know About What Is Success As A Christian

The other thing is to understand how God responds to my will. I was taught that God's will and I will always oppose each other. "God's will is always opposite to your will and you must surrender to His will.", is what church taught me. So I was always frightened to know God's will because He was somebody who was against me.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Romans 8:31‭-‬32 NKJV

Once you come to the knowledge of God as your loving Father you will easily understand His will for your life. It happens because of the relationship you will have with God as a Father and son or daughter.

Now I will explain to you both the points in detail so that you may have a clear understanding of how to find out God's will.

1) God Is A Loving Father

2) God Is Not Against Your Will

Point No. 1.  God Is A Loving Father

Jesus mentioned addressing God as the Father in Matthew 6:9, "In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name."

If you don't know how to relate to God you will never know God's will for sure.  It's simple logic. You cannot expect anything from a person you are not acquainted with.

A conversation between two people can be as effective as they are able to relate to each other. You cannot open your heart to a stranger neither the other person will.

There was always a mental conflict in my mind relating to God in prayer. I didn't know how to approach God in prayer. Some would preach that God is our Father. Some would say He is our friend. Some would teach that God must be feared. You know all kinds of different approaches to relating to God in prayer.

My problem may not be significant to others. They may be well able to relate to God in prayer. That's wonderful for them. But I was stuck. I didn't know how to talk to Him and find out what is in His heart exactly for my life?

In my early Christian life, I used to wait on God to talk to me through my ears. I would say, "God, please speak to me.", and then I would try to listen to Him through my physical ears. I would wait and wait but I couldn't listen to His voice. But now I know better. God speaks to me through my own thoughts and voice. He speaks to me from within because He lives in me.

You know when you are really concerned about something and you talk to God about it He always responds to you. I always have this kind of experience in my life. I hear God talking to me through my own thoughts. He uses my own voice to communicate with me.

I relate to God as my Father and I am His son. And since He is my Father I know He always has the best interests for me. He takes care of me. I can trust Him. I have confidence in Him because I fully trust His word. God and His Word are ONE.

He is not only a father but He is a loving Father. He loves you eternally and unconditionally. Once you know this truth, finding out God's will for your life will not be difficult anymore.

Point No. 2. God Is Not Against Your Will

Jesus said in John 15:7, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

Prayer is about sharing your heart with your loving Father. It's about your heart's desire. He loves to give you your heart's desire. God is concerned about what you desire more than you are. His will is to give you your will.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

Psalms 37:3‭-‬5 NKJV

You see, God is an all-sufficient God. He is El-Shaddai. He doesn't need anything from you except your trust. Faith pleases God and faith is trusting in God's ability to meet your needs. You trust Him because you believe that His word is enough.

People gave me an image of God as a cruel taskmaster, not a loving father. When I perceived God as a cruel taskmaster it hampered my faith.

He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Colossians 1:15 NKJV

God became someone who wants me to do things for Him against my will. And there were rules to be followed to please Him. But that's not the image the Bible portray of God. Jesus has revealed the true image of God.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

Philippians 2:12‭-‬13 NKJV

You need to understand that God your loving Father is not against your will. In fact, He is the one who puts His will in your heart so that you can have His will for your life.

In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you;  for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.

John 16:26‭-‬27 NKJV

The word father means the source. God the Father is the SOURCE of our existence.

Knowing and relating to God as my loving Father and that He is not against my will helps me how to find out God's will for my life
